a winter mosey...

today kevin and i took the dogs on a hike up to rattlesnake lodge, our usual route. i can't even count how many times we have done this hike, because it is close and and not so crowded. but every time i go, i notice new things and find it even more amazing than before.

 the weather has been unusually warm especially for being Christmas time. to think last year we had an inch of snow at this time! the cloud cover was thick today, but the sun peeked through just a couple of times, showing our shadows briefly...

seamus knows this trail better than us. he knows all the shortcuts, always avoids the place where he encountered bees one summer, and remembers where all of the chipmunk families live.

maybell is learning from him, but pretty much only cares about laying down in streams and greeting everyone she comes across on the trail with a giant pink tongue. 





i do love this place, in every season, at any time. a little escape from the hustle.
